The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005

All
premises selling alcohol, will, over the next 12 months need
to change their existing licences to the new style Premises
&/or Personal Licences.
There is a strict timetable already
programmed for this transition. If you miss your scheduled
application time it could have serious implications for you
business.
I will try to explain the programme as
simply as possible:
If the existing Licence for your business
is due to be renewed in March 2008, 2009 or 2010, you will
all have to apply for the new style Premises Licence at the
March 2008 Licensing Board meeting. Applications in by
February 2008.
A similar programme will apply to June
renewals 2008, 2009 or 2010; you will all have to apply by
June 2008.
You will also have to have a Personal
Licence in order to be identified on the Premises Licence as
The Premises Manager.
To get a Personal Licence, all applicants
must do the recognised training and achieve the certificate,
The Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, which
will be needed to accompany your application. There will be
no exceptions regardless of previous experience etc.
If this is still unclear please feel free
to give me a call and I will be able to answer your queries.
